If you have 'Simple Template Admin' licenses assigned to your Customer Administrator's user account, you should be able to lock the templates. The separate license is for accounts who do not use 'Simple Template Messaging' and still want to lock their templates. |
To be able to view 'Lock Message' option for locking the template, you must click on "Save As Template". As soon as you click on the button, a lock pop-up appears on the screen. Select Yes to 'Lock' your template. |
As a first step, please make sure you have two different users to login to the GSMS, if you are testing both the roles i.e. Customer admin & Simple template user( Standard User with simple template licenses).
First user i.e.the Customer-Administrator user-id must assign the required licenses to the second user i.e. Standard User. Assigning ONLY the Simple-Template-Messaging licenses will bar the user to access any other details from the portal.

Ensure that you have entered the mobile destination in international format, without plus (+).
In case you have “Editable Fields” in your template, please make sure you have entered destination before updating “Editable Fields”. If destination is entered after clicking on ‘Set and Preview’, you might encounter an error.
This is because clicking on ‘Editable Field - Set and Preview’ button appends the Field Inputs to the destination in the format :
[<mobile number>, field input 1 , field input 2..]
So if a user enters mobile number after field input, it will cause error.

To be able to modify the complete message template, please contact your Customer Administrator. However, a standard user can restrictively add inputs in the template by using ‘Editable Input Fields’ only, if available in the templates by your admin. The editable field will be available in the template as {integer}. Example
Customer Admin creates template : Your pick up is confirmed for {2}. Simple Template User Sends Message : Your pick up is confirmed for {2}. // Template, Not Editable Field {2} : 3:00 pm// Field editable.. Sent Message : Your pick up is confirmed for 3:00 pm.

As a standard user with simple template licenses, you only have access to select and view Personal Setup (Personal Information, Change Password). This is an expected behaviour that other link would be either not clickable or will show an authentication error as shown below:
“The following errors occurred: The requested operation failed because you are not authorized to perform the operation. Please contact your customer administrator to allocate you a proper application license.” |
As a standard user with simple template licenses, you are restricted from using all functions of GSMS. To be able to send a new SMS, select a template from “New From Template” dropdown. Refer to our section to learn how to send a message using simple templates. |

If a user adds more than one mobile number in ‘Destination’, all the recipients will receive the same text with the entered input field. For example,
Template : Dear {2}, Your appointment is confirmed at {3}. Custom message to John : Dear John, Your appointment is confirmed at 3:00 PM. Custom message to another recipient : Dear John, Your appointment is confirmed at 3:00 PM. |
