Understanding address management for SMS for campaigns.
Summary of options.
•Setting the source address at the point of creating a campaign, and have that source address set up as a number that triggers an Inbound response, or
•Linking an outbound campaign to an Inbound campaign (and use the Address Pool), and use keyword routing, or
•when inbound intelligence is not required, you can allow a message to go our from a pool address and be tracked back until the Address Pool entry expires.
Setting the Address when Sending a Campaign.
1. A user can choose a source address to which to send a campaign on a Broadcast message
a. Any reply to this specifically chosen source address will be received by our platform
b. The reply message is delivered for processing to a provisioned Inbound campaign that listens to that source address
c. Note that the response will not be associated with the broadcast campaign directly nor automatically by the AT&T GSMS
2. Alternatively, A user can NOT specify a source address
a. AT&T GSMS will choose from those addresses provisioned as POOL addresses the next available POOL address that has not been used or the oldest already used for a recipient to attach as the source address for the broadcast campaign. If you have only one address in the POOL the existing tracker will get overwritten and tracking lost.
b. AT&T GSMS tracks the use of the source address for each recipient
c. reply message is received by our platform
d. reply message is associated with the original campaign and then uses the reply management of the broadcast to further process the message
So, to use campaign tracking and association of reply addresses you must not select the source address.
Also, to ensure that campaign tracking is accurate, you should allocate as many source addresses to be in the POOL as the number of simultaneous requests to the same recipient (as a guide this would be no more than 5 for campaigns but can be as high as 20 when we use this feature for job offers in StaffMatch).
To reduce the clashing of Address and Recipients, where practically possible more numbers should be added into the Address Pool. Alternatively, assume that no individual consumer will receive and need to respond to more than one message at a time and that they would reply in order of receipt.
